  1. Unbox your terminal & insert the battery

    To insert the battery, turn the terminal over, lift the back cover from the bottom-left corner, and slide the battery into the slot with the gold connectors at the top.

  2. Power the reader on (located on the right side of terminal)

  3. Connect to your clinic’s secure (password-protected) WiFi

  4. From a computer, log into the Scratch Dashboard

  5. Register your terminal

    • From the left-hand menu, select Payments > Collect Payment

    • Go to the Terminals tab

    • Click Register and Connect New Card Reader

  6. Find the pairing code on your terminal

    • If the code doesn’t appear, swipe from left to right

    • Tap Settings, then Generate Pairing Code

    • If prompted for a password, enter: 07139

  7. Enter the code in your Dashboard

    • Type the three-word code with hyphens into the Registration Code field

    • In the Reader Label field, name your terminal (example: Front Desk 1)

      • Avoid special characters like #

  8. Let it update

    • The terminal may install updates—let it run through completely

    • When the reader displays the Scratch logo (or your practice’s logo), it signifies that all required steps have been successfully completed.

  9. Charge the reader

    • Plug the charging cable into the port with the lightning bolt symbol on the right side and connect it to a wall outlet using the USB adapter.
